Memory Boxes... a DWR Subsidiary  One of the fastest growing segments of the Adult Care Industry is in Memory Care. More and more families are having to make the difficult decisions about caring for aging parents; many who are also suffering from Alzheimer’s or other forms of Dementia. With more than 50 types of Dementia and the three stages Dementia residents go through, it is a challenging time for care providers, residents and families. Our Mom is in Memory Care and we can identify first hand what families experience. Studies indicate Long Term Memory is typically the last to go with people suffering from Alzheimer’s. These same studies also suggest surrounding the person who has Alzheimer’s, with experiences and things reflecting their distant past, can serve as a calming influence. Items like old photographs and mementos from their childhood, wedding photographs, newspaper articles, military medals and other forms of recognition for military service and many, many more such stimuli, can be put to use effectively. It also serves to identify a specific area, such as their room, and gives a sense of “belonging” in a new environment. Memory Boxes serve as an effective tool in providing a safe and visible place for family members or friends to display many different items which can enhance the living experiences of a person who is suffering from Dementia. All of our Memory Boxes are made to order, have a clear Plexi-Acrylic window, come with locks and two keys, incorporate a 1/4” Cork background for pinning objects.
